Research
The child development and exercise center conducts top-level research within the UMCU-program ‘child health’. The centre’s research theme is ‘activity and health’. The scientific research activities are performed within diverse research consortia and mainly focus on children with a (chronic) condition.
Within the child development and exercise center we have a long lasting research tradition regarding the physical capacity and the influence of exercise (training)programs in children and adolescents with a chronic illness or condition.
The scientific research of the center can be divided in two fields of interests:
- Investigate and analyse etiological factors and predictors of decreases exercise capacity and exercise tolerance (based on these factors suitable exercise interventions will be developed and analysed)
- Interaction between environment and the development of children and adolescents with a (chronic) condition.
