At the WKZ, part of UMC Utrecht, our specialists work together to care for your child. We provide top-quality medical care and attention for the whole family. All care – from pregnancy to young adulthood – can be found under one roof. This enables us to treat children with complex or rare conditions quickly and effectively. For example, at the Spieren voor Spieren Children's Centre, the Centre for Congenital Heart Defects and the Birth Centre.
Innovation that really helps children
As an academic children's hospital, we work on care, research, education and innovation that directly contribute to better treatments. We use the knowledge and networks at Utrecht Science Park, including Utrecht University, and partners outside it — regionally, nationally and internationally. In this way, we are improving care for children step by step, now and in the future.
Research
Scientific research is necessary to improve the care of children and to discover or test new therapies and treatments. Our goal is to increasingly prevent, detect or predict diseases.
Education
We train the healthcare professionals of the future. Healthcare professionals who look beyond the illness alone. They see the child behind the patient: their life, their environment and their wishes. By continuing to innovate, we ensure that every child receives the care that truly suits them.
Zijn mijn patiëntgegevens nog wel veilig?
Update 16 april:In mediaberichtgeving van 16 april bevestigt Chipsoft dat er gegevens van patiënten zijn gestolen bij de ransomware-aanval. We begrijpen dat dit vragen en/of zorgen bij u oproept. Echter, de software die is getroffen, is niet in gebruik bij het UMC Utrecht. Het patiëntportaal van het UMC Utrecht staat binnen de beveiligde omgeving van het UMC Utrecht en uw patiëntgegevens worden niet gedeeld met Chipsoft.
Nijntje verwelkomt jongvolwassenen in het UMC Utrecht
Het UMC Utrecht heeft er een bijzondere gast bij: een bijna twee meter hoog beeld van nijntje in de centrale hal, bij de hoofdingang. Daarmee verhuist nijntje symbolisch mee van het Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (WKZ) naar het UMC Utrecht – als teken van de overgang van de kindzorg naar de volwassenenzorg.
